Radiant heating systems have become more and more popular over recent years due to the many benefits they offer. With 30 years of experience in the HVAC industry, our Santa Fe heating and air technicians are committed to making recommendations based on our customers’ individual circumstances. This means that we will take the time to understand what you are looking for when you are considering upgrading or replacing your system. This could entail, for example, whether baseboard heating or radiant heating would be the better fit.

Advantages of radiant heating systems include:

  • Increased indoor air quality
  • Increased home comfort
  • Improved energy efficiency
  • Provides clean heat
  • Less noticeable operation

Additionally, radiant heating is compatible with all types of flooring. This means that you do not have to have a specific type of flooring just because you choose to install a radiant heating system. Radiant heating can work with carpet, hardwood, concrete, and more.

What Temperature Should Radiant Heat Be SEt

The right temperature for radiant heating depends on a few factors.

Temperature Depends on Floor Type

First in importance would be the flooring material in the home. If a floor is made of tile or stone, the high thermal conductivity will not require the temperature of the radiant heating system to be set as high. If a floor is made of carpet or thick wood, a higher setting will be necessary. Radiant systems for laminate and some wood floors should not exceed 82 degrees.

Temperature on Thermostat Vs Temperature in Tubing

The setting of a radiant system will often range from around 85 to 130 degrees. This is not the temperature that will be set on a thermostat, but is the temperature in the tubing that is necessary to create the desired climate. The heating coming through the floor will usually be 5 degrees warmer than what is set on a thermostat.
